Clear Conscience Pet® is a new company, founded in 2010 to create healthy, clean, and incredibly tasty treats for dogs, cats, and ferrets. All Clear Conscience® treats are made in the U.S.A. from free-range, grass-fed, or organically raised sources.
Our treats follow a nutritional philosophy that insists on meaty treats that are grain-free, gluten-free, and ultra low in carbohydrates. The result is a new family of holistic and organic pet treats that is in harmonious alignment with the most current thinking and research in twenty-first century holistic and evolutionary pet nutrition.
While the company itself is new, the founders of this family-owned and privately-held business have over 30 years of combined experience in the development, marketing, and manufacturing of natural and holistic pet food and treats. Their dream and vision was to follow a philosophy of uncompromising quality, ethics, and dedication to animals to go far beyond the treats of the past and set a new standard for better and healthier options in the future. The ultimate goal of Clear Conscience Pet® is to make treats that will make your pet healthier and happier. But at the same time the company will provide a secure comfort zone for those who love their companion animals and also have a desire to support the humane treatment of livestock, long term sustainability in independent American farming and ranching, environmental responsibility, and positive action to support the American economy.
These days, a disproportionately large amount of pet treats actually come from China, or use many ingredients sourced from China and other overseas sources with far less stringent food safety regulation than here in the U.S.A. The massive and frightening recalls in the pet food business a few years ago were traced back to non-edible Chinese protein additives, used to adulterate and cheapen products for low-cost export. Clear Conscience Pet® allows conscientious and thoughtful companion animal families to make a better choice, for their pets, the environment, AND the American economy! Feeding these treats will make pets very happy, and will also help consumers to feel they are making a positive decision on many levels. Hence the company motto: “Treat with Clear Conscience(TM).”
Founders’ Bios
Anthony Bennie started as a natural pet food sales manager in 1991, and started his independent sales and marketing firm, PetReps, Inc., in 1995. PetReps played a pivotal role in the history and development of the holistic and natural pet nutrition industry as an independent partner to the company that became the leader in the emerging field of holistic pet foods and treats. Anthony has also published numerous articles (Founder’s Articles) in the field of natural canine nutrition, and has been a guest lecturer at several major university veterinary colleges including Cornell University,North Carolina State University at Raleigh, and the University of Florida at Gainesville.
Amanda Malone Bennie, Co-Founder, was the Co-Manager of Earth Animal in Westport, Connecticut for 10 years, from 1994-2004. Earth Animal was one of the very first retail, mail order, and online pioneers in natural and holistic pet care, and was founded by Dr. Bob Goldstein, VMD, and Susan Goldstein.
