Clear Conscience Pet® is about more than making the healthiest pet treats in the USA or anywhere else.  We are also committed to doing our part for American business and the economy.  ALL Clear Conscience Pet® treat ingredients come from the U.S.A. and Canada. ALL of our processing, packaging, labeling, and shipping labor is done right here in the U.S.A.

Frankly, this is a more expensive way to operate a pet treat company than most of our competitors’ methods. For example, one of the biggest treat companies out there imports every ounce of their dried chicken jerky from China. We are not here to accuse anyone or any country of poor quality control or questionable food safety standards. But we are not only far more comfortable with the healthfulness and safety of naturally-raised food from the heartland of America, we want to make a difference to the American economy and American workers in our small way.  That is part of the meaning of our motto: “Treat with Clear Conscience.™”

American small and mid-sized family-owned ranching, farming, and food production operations are among the few business categories in the U.S.A. not controlled by international conglomerates and still growing in this challenging economy. Our decision to work with family ranchers and regional food processors to fully utilize their resources enhances sustainability by increasing the return on investment for our select ranchers. Having our treats prepared and oven-roasted by family-owned small Midwestern human food facilities increases their need for labor, thus creating good new jobs for American workers.

Our philosophy is, if we don’t start somewhere, what lies ahead in the future for an American manufacturing sector that has already been decimated by cheap imports and state subsidized, artificially low-priced products? Sure, Clear Conscience Pet® is just one small family-owned American company, and we are just getting started.  But think about it; if more new and existing businesses would commit to a least TRYING to create more opportunity right here in the U.S.A. through their sourcing and buying decisions, couldn’t we at least begin the process of turning things around for the better?         

We also strongly support independent family-owned businesses by only selling our products to local and regional independent specialty pet supply stores, veterinarians, groomers, trainers, and natural food stores. The tradition of the family-owned independent business and the values that go along with that tradition are dear to us at Clear Conscience Pet®, and our founder has worked with thousands of independent pet supply stores throughout the USA for twenty years.
